I know when I was in Burkina Faso (around February last year) I came across Point-Air - a cheap regional airline offering a fair number of cheap flights in the region. I remember thinking at the time that it would be extremely useful for people wanting to avoid overland back-tracking.

I posted a lot of info. about it at the time but unfortunately failed to transfer it to the sticky (and obviously no one else did either). There's a link to some contact details here. Unfortunately though the web page reverts to Point-Afrique, so perhaps Point-Air was a very short-lived venture?

Heard Sierra Leone was quite expensive as you could expect for a place that's been crawling with UN and international community representatives..
